Liverpool target Diomande hints at Premier League move

Liverpool transfer target Yan Diomande has hinted he would be open to a move to the Premier League this summer. The RB Leipzig winger said his agents are handling the necessary details while he focuses on performing at the World Cup with Ivory Coast.

Liverpool's Bid and Leipzig's Stance

Liverpool have communicated to Leipzig their willingness to bid up to £86 million for the 19-year-old. However, the Bundesliga club are thought to be holding out for closer to £112 million and are reluctant to do a deal for a player they want to tie down to a new contract.

Diomande's World Cup Performance

Diomande's nation were beaten 2-1 by Germany on Saturday night in Toronto as Denis Undav scored twice to cancel out Franck Kessie's opener. Diomande, who was substituted for former Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe in the second half, was speaking earlier this week to Bein Sport and suggested that his future will be resolved after the World Cup.

"Would I be open to the Premier League? I don't know," Diomande said. "I am an RB Leipzig player, but why not? My agents will sort that out. As for me I am more focused on the World Cup, that's the most important thing. It doesn't happen all the time, it's only every four years, so I am making the most of it and for the rest, we'll see."

Ivory Coast Coach Comments

Speaking earlier this week, Ivory Coast boss Emerse Fae played down speculation surrounding Diomande, joking: "When we were in France, during the preparation, journalists told me he was about to sign with PSG. Here (in the United States), they tell me he's about to sign with Liverpool! I don't know, but for now, he will focus on the World Cup, and then afterwards, he can think about the rest of his career."

Diomande will be involved when Ivory Coast conclude their World Cup group stages against Curacao on Thursday.
