Liverpool are pressing ahead with an ambitious summer rebuild under new manager Andoni Iraola after a fifth-place Premier League finish. The club have already seen an £86.7 million bid for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande rejected, while also scouting Australian teenage defender Lucas Herrington, who is a target for Barcelona.
PSG Could Rival Liverpool for Diomande
Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring Diomande's situation and could formalise their interest if they receive encouragement from the player, according to Fabrizio Romano. PSG are expected to trim their squad before making major signings, with Kang-in Lee in talks to join Atletico Madrid. If that deal progresses, it could free up resources for PSG to pursue the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international.
PSG already boast attacking depth with Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola. However, their potential entry into the race would create serious competition for Liverpool, who view Diomande as their top attacking target.
Liverpool Scout Australian Defender Herrington
Liverpool scouts have been monitoring 18-year-old centre-back Lucas Herrington, who plays for Colorado Rapids in MLS. The Australian international was an unused substitute in his country's first two World Cup matches in 2026. Barcelona have already submitted a bid for Herrington, which was rejected by Colorado Rapids, according to The Athletic.
Herrington's teammate, former Premier League defender Rob Holding, praised the youngster: "He's super composed. Super relaxed on the ball, under pressure. He's a really good player. He just keeps getting better and better each week."
With Virgil van Dijk entering the final year of his contract, Liverpool may look to bolster their defence. The club have already spent £60 million on 20-year-old Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, but Herrington remains a potential long-term option.
