Magician Daniel Hidden, 26, has mysteriously disappeared, prompting the Australian Defence Force to join a major wilderness search operation. He was last seen driving away from his Queensland home at 3am on June 14, heading towards the Springbrook area in his silver Hyundai Santa Fe towing a caravan. His phone was switched off at 6am that same day, and he has not been seen for over a week.
Search Operation Underway
Authorities have initiated a large-scale search involving police, firefighters, and volunteers, scouring the expansive Springbrook region. Two days into the search, Hidden's silver Hyundai Santa Fe and Galaxy caravan were located by police near Currumbin Creek Road, in remote bushland several miles south of his Gold Coast home. Fire crews and drones have been combing the vast Currumbin valley area, a secluded section of Springbrook National Park.
Military Assistance Required
Emergency services requested backup from the Australian Defence Force due to the challenging terrain. Acting Inspector Brett Jackson stated, "Because of the terrain and the large area that needs to be traversed, we have been utilising aerial assets in Queensland including police, Polair and also drones." The search has since expanded into dense rainforest, treated as a critical rescue mission.
Unusual Circumstances
Police describe Hidden's disappearance as highly unusual for his character. In an eerie twist, his website displays the ominous statement: "Transformation requires disappearance." It is unknown when this appeared, and authorities are not linking it to his vanishing. Hidden is an experienced hiker with strong ties to the area, having the region's coordinates tattooed on his fingers.
