Bomb Squad Called After Suspected Grenade Found in Chorley

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams were deployed and homes evacuated on a residential street in Chorley, Lancashire, after a suspected grenade was uncovered during a police search. The discovery followed the arrest of a 20-year-old man in connection with a vehicle pursuit in Preston.

Device Found During Property Search

Kirkstall Close was cordoned off as a precaution after officers located what is believed to be a grenade while searching a property. The search was part of an investigation into an incident that began on Sunday, June 21, at 9:40 pm, when police spotted a Ford Fiesta on New Hall Lane in Preston with suspected illegal number plates.

Officers signalled for the vehicle to stop, but it made off, leading to a short pursuit. The vehicle was eventually stopped on Brockholes Brow, where the driver fled on foot, pointing what appeared to be a handgun at officers. He was detained, and upon searching him, officers found two knives. The weapon was later confirmed to be a BB gun.
