Manchester School Lockdown After Man Enters Grounds

A primary school in Salford was placed on lockdown this morning after a man entered the premises, prompting a large police response. St Marks RC Primary School on Queensway in the Clifton area was the scene of the incident, which occurred around 10am on Friday 19 June.

Man Apprehended After Entering School Grounds

According to Greater Manchester Police, emergency services were called to reports of a concern for welfare on Queensway in Swinton. A man, believed to be suffering a medical episode, entered the school grounds carrying a brick. He caused alarm among staff and pupils and damaged a window.

Officers arrived quickly and took control of the man, who was then taken to hospital by ambulance. No harm was caused to any school staff or pupils.

School Closed for the Day

The school made the decision to close for the day and send children home. Parents were called to collect their children. Police vehicles were seen in the area, and the situation was brought under control without further incident.
