The BBC has confirmed that Andrew Castle will no longer be part of their Wimbledon coverage after this summer's championships, ending a 23-year tenure as the lead commentator for the prestigious tennis tournament.
BBC Statement on Castle's Departure
A BBC spokesperson said: "We wanted Andrew to continue with the BBC at Wimbledon next year, but he has now decided that this year will be his last. We look forward to working with him at the 2026 Championships and thank him for his great work leading our commentary team there for more than 20 years."
The announcement marks the end of an era for BBC's Wimbledon coverage, as Castle has been a familiar voice for tennis fans since he joined the commentary team in 2003.
Castle's Legacy at Wimbledon
Andrew Castle, a former British tennis player, has been a staple of the BBC's Wimbledon broadcast, providing expert analysis and commentary for over two decades. His departure will leave a significant gap in the commentary box for next year's tournament.
The BBC has not yet announced who will replace Castle as the lead commentator for Wimbledon 2027.
