Ghislaine Maxwell, the former associate of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, has stated she feels "much happier" and "safe" following her transfer to a new minimum-security prison facility in Texas.
A New Environment at Bryan Prison Camp
Maxwell was moved in August from a low-security federal prison in Florida to the Bryan Federal Prison Camp in Texas. This transfer occurred just days after she met with officials from the Justice Department to discuss the Epstein files.
In correspondence from her new surroundings, Maxwell has praised the Texas facility for its cleanliness and orderliness. She also highlighted the improved quality of the food and described the staff as notably polite, drawing a clear contrast with her previous prison experience.
Controversy and Congressional Criticism
However, her transfer and the conditions she describes have not been without controversy. The perceived "VIP treatment" has drawn sharp criticism from Congressman Jamie Raskin. Furthermore, reports suggest that her situation has caused resentment among other inmates at the facility.
During her recent meetings with federal officials, Maxwell also made a specific statement regarding a high-profile figure. She asserted that she "absolutely never" witnessed former President Trump behaving inappropriately with anyone within Epstein's social circle.
