A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping another man outside a club in Portsmouth. Hampshire Police said the 21-year-old from Winchester was restrained by security at The Astoria Club before being taken into custody.
A police tent and cordon were set up in the bushes near the club where the incident occurred at around 3:30 am on Saturday, June 13. A Hampshire Police spokesperson stated: “We are investigating a report received at 3:39 am today (Saturday 13 June) that a short time before, a man had been raped on Winston Churchill Avenue, Portsmouth.”
The victim is receiving support from specialist officers, and inquiries are ongoing. The suspect remains in police custody.
