Six people have been charged following a string of alleged incidents in Edinburgh that police suspect are part of an ongoing gang war in the capital. The incidents occurred on May 26 and 27, 2026, in the south-east of the city, and included a disturbance at a property, a car rammed into a house before being set on fire, and smashed windows.
First Incident: Disturbance at Balderston Gardens North
On Tuesday, May 26, at around 2:40 a.m., emergency services responded to a disturbance at a property on Balderston Gardens North. Following enquiries, three men aged 29, 33, and 40, along with a 40-year-old woman, were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Second Incident: Car Rammed and Set on Fire
In the early hours of Wednesday, May 27, emergency services were again called to Balderston Gardens North after a vehicle struck a property and was allegedly set on fire. Five men aged 19, 29, 29, 33, and 40, and a 40-year-old woman, were arrested and charged in connection with this incident.
Third Incident: Smashed Windows in Niddrie
Shortly afterwards, at around 5 a.m. on May 27, a number of windows were allegedly smashed at a property in Niddrie Marischal Drive. A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with this incident.
All six accused were released on an undertaking to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.
