Police in Bangladesh have arrested three suspects after a 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by four men, including her boyfriend, who lured her to his home. The attack occurred on Saturday, June 20, in Ashulia, an industrial area on the northwestern outskirts of Dhaka. One suspect remains at large, and a manhunt is ongoing.

Details of the Attack

The victim was invited to her boyfriend's home, where three other men were waiting. The four then allegedly raped her before fleeing the scene. The girl reported the attack to local police, who launched an immediate investigation. Mohammad Tariqul Islam, an officer from Ashulia Police Station, confirmed that the boyfriend, 22-year-old Summon Sheikh, and two 16-year-old boys were arrested quickly after the reported attack. They have since appeared before a court.

Ongoing Search for Fourth Suspect

Authorities are continuing efforts to locate and arrest the fourth attacker. The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment following the assault. The case has drawn attention to safety issues in Ashulia, which has a population of around 317,000 but sees a daily influx of over 200,000 workers due to its status as a major garment manufacturing hub.
