Snooker Champ Kyren Wilson's Home Burgled, Withdraws

Kyren Wilson, the 2024 world snooker champion, withdrew from the Championship League Snooker event on Monday after his home was burgled while he was away competing. The thieves stole luxury watches, jewellery, and £2,000 in cash that was intended as a donation to the BeMoreFab Children's Cancer Charity.

Details of the Burglary

The break-in occurred between 11:04am and 11:22am on Monday morning at Wilson's property. The 34-year-old was in Leicester for the tournament when the incident took place. CCTV footage captured the offenders, and the matter has been reported to the police.

In a statement on Instagram, Wilson listed the stolen items: a Cartier watch, an Audemars Piguet watch, a ladies' Rolex Datejust with a pink dial, and a blue sapphire necklace he bought for his wife to celebrate their 10-year wedding anniversary. He also mentioned the £2,000 cash set aside for charity, calling the theft of that money particularly upsetting.

Wilson's Plea for Help

Wilson described the experience as deeply distressing, not just because of the monetary value but because of the personal memories attached to the items. He urged anyone with information or who is offered the stolen goods to contact the police immediately. He also asked people to share his post to raise awareness and assist in recovering the items.

“This has been a deeply distressing experience, not because of the value of the items alone, but because of the personal memories and meaning attached to them,” Wilson said. He added that the CCTV footage is being reviewed by authorities.

Impact on Competition

Wilson's withdrawal from the Championship League Snooker event meant his scheduled opponents—Dylan Emery, Michal Szubarczyk, and Haydon Pinhey—were all given walkovers. Wilson won the world championship in 2024, beating Jak Jones 18-14 at the Crucible in Sheffield. He is not expected to return to competitive play until the Shanghai Masters, which begins on July 27.
