Netflix's 'The Crash' Examines 100mph 'Hell on Wheels' Murder

A new Netflix true crime documentary, The Crash, is set to explore the case of an Ohio teenager dubbed the 'hell on wheels' killer. The film will stream from May 15 and is produced by RAW TV, the company behind hits like Don't F**k With Cats and The Tinder Swindler.

The case dates back to 2022, when a car carrying three young adults crashed into a brick building at 100mph in Strongsville, Ohio. The sole survivor was the driver, 17-year-old Mackenzie Shirilla, while her boyfriend Dominic and his friend Davion died. Initially thought to be a tragic accident, detectives soon uncovered evidence suggesting a calculated crime.

During the trial, a judge described Shirilla as 'hell on wheels' and sentenced her to two life terms, stating: 'This was not reckless driving. Her actions were controlled, methodical, deliberate, intentional and purposeful. This was murder.' The documentary, directed by Gareth Johnson, delves into the volatile relationship at the centre of the case and examines the shifting narratives of that night.
