Divock Origi has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 31, bringing an end to a career defined by unforgettable moments with Liverpool. The Belgian forward scored some of the most crucial goals in the club's recent history, including a memorable double in the 2019 Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona, where Liverpool overturned a 3-0 deficit to win 4-0 on the night. He also found the net in the final against Tottenham Hotspur, helping secure the club's sixth European Cup.
A Cult Hero at Anfield
Origi's impact at Liverpool extended beyond the Champions League. He netted a dramatic last-minute winner in a Merseyside derby at Anfield, sparking a pitch invasion by manager Jurgen Klopp, who sprinted to embrace goalkeeper Alisson Becker. In total, Origi scored six goals against Everton, earning him cult status among the Liverpool faithful. Across 175 appearances for the club, he scored 41 times, despite starting only 68 matches.
