Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas has revealed her latest role in a new spin-off series, Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro, where she serves as a judge alongside her famous son, Mark Ballas. The 65-year-old dancer appeared on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday to discuss the project.
New series details
The show, hosted by Robert Irwin, features 12 up-and-coming dancers living together and competing through auditions to earn a spot as a professional dancer on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. Shirley described it as 'the most fascinating show I've ever done in my life.'
Working with her son
Shirley praised Mark's empathy and experience, saying they had natural chemistry. She noted that the contestants are professionals, not celebrities, so she is 'quite tough on them.'
She also hinted at an exciting lineup for Strictly Come Dancing 2026, following the confirmation of new hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe. Strictly is available on BBC iPlayer, while Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am.
