BBC Look North host Amy Garcia, 45, has responded to criticism over her on-screen wardrobe, including a handwritten letter complaining about her short dresses. The Yorkshire-based presenter clapped back on social media, sharing a photo of herself in a red-and-blue dress with nude heels.
Garcia's Response to Criticism
In her Instagram post, Garcia wrote: "I recently received a handwritten letter telling me that my dresses were far too short for my age, and why was I dressing like a 17-year-old? This outfit is for Margaret, I hope she approves." The mother of two has been a main correspondent on the programme since 2020, previously working on CITV, The Disney Channel, and CBBC.
Support from Followers
Her followers rallied to support her in the comments. One wrote: "Love that dress Amy ignore! Where is it from?!" Another said: "You always look beautiful Amy. Oh Margaret, Margaret, Margaret you clearly need a hobby to occupy your time rather than insult the lovely Amy." A third added: "She sounds a very rude person, Amy... Take no notice and carry on being who you are."
Others praised her work: "I was thinking how great you looked last night. Keep up the good work Amy. Some tough stories handled very sensitively." Another commented: "Amy, You always look so stylish. Absolutely Stunning. Keep doing what you're doing." One follower remarked: "You always dress lovely and look wonderful, I wish I had the confidence and your figure."
Similar Incident with Another BBC Presenter
Garcia's post comes after fellow BBC presenter Amanda Harper, 52, hit back at trolls who branded her "cheap and trashy" for wearing high heels and leather trousers live on air.
