Strictly Come Dancing is back for 2026, with the BBC confirming the first celebrity to take to the dance floor. Award-winning actress Lacey Turner, best known for her role as Stacey Slater on EastEnders, has been announced as the first contestant for the upcoming series.
New Hosts and Judges
The hit BBC One dance show returns for its 22nd year in September, airing every Saturday night until Christmas. For the first time, a trio of hosts will lead the show: Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe, following the departure of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. The judging panel remains unchanged, with Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke all returning.
Professional Dancer Changes
Five professional dancers have left the show, including Karen Hauer, Nadiya Bychkova, Luba Mushtuk, Michelle Tsiakkas, and Gorka Marquez. Five new professionals will join the line-up, adding fresh talent to the ballroom.
Lacey Turner's Excitement
Lacey Turner began acting at a young age and has been a staple on EastEnders since 2004, winning multiple British Soap Awards and National Television Awards. She has also starred in stage productions and the BBC drama Our Girl. In a statement, Turner said: "I am so excited to be making my way to the dance floor this year to be a part of Strictly Come Dancing! I am a huge fan and can't quite believe I will be taking part and not watching at home this year! I look forward to meeting everyone and learning a new skill!"
Further announcements about the Strictly Come Dancing 2026 line-up will be revealed throughout the summer, ahead of the new series on BBC One and iPlayer this September.
