Alan Carr initially turned down the chance to appear on Celebrity Traitors, according to Jonathan Ross. Ross revealed on his Reel Talk podcast that Carr was among several stars who declined the show before eventually joining and winning the first series.
Ross recalled a conversation with Ricky Gervais, who also rejected the show. Gervais predicted that bigger names would be targeted early, a theory that proved correct when Stephen Fry and Ross himself were voted out early. Carr, however, outfoxed the competition to win £87,500 for charity.
The show became a ratings hit, with over 14 million viewers tuning in for the finale. Now, celebrities who initially snubbed the show are reportedly desperate to join the second series, set to film in 2026. An insider said, 'Everyone’s kicking themselves.'
Other stars who turned down the show include Richard Osman, Martin Lewis, Karren Brady, Lorraine Kelly, Daisy May Cooper, and her brother Charlie. Producers are now being flooded with calls from agents of A-listers who previously passed.
