Brits to Sacrifice Sleep, Not Skincare, for Summer Football

Forget the pitter-patter of little feet; it is the thud of boots on grass that will soon keep the nation awake at night. As football fever grips the UK, 79% of Brits say they will sacrifice sleep to stay updated on match results, according to a survey by Currys.

Football Fever Disrupts Routines

More than half (53%) of respondents predicted the tournament will leave them looking less refreshed, with 30% prepared to skip skincare, grooming, or wellness routines altogether. Despite this, excitement remains high. Four in ten (41%) plan to decorate their homes, while 59% have purchased products specifically for hosting football matches.

Late-Night Matches and New Traditions

Nearly half of the group stage matches will start after midnight UK time, some kicking off as early as 5 a.m. This is the first time the competition is held across three countries: Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Currys has launched a limited-edition range of football-inspired technology and appliances. The collection includes a Kenwood fridge freezer and a THERABODY Mask Glo LED Face Mask, both redesigned in the national colours of England and Scotland.

Sam Allardyce Leads the Campaign

Former England manager Sam Allardyce, who is fronting the campaign, said: "Tournament football changes everything at home. Sleep disappears, emotions go through the roof, and suddenly the whole house revolves around kick-off times. Fans completely throw themselves into it, so seeing household tech become part of the action feels spot on. Whether you're hosting friends, watching every minute, or recovering the next morning, everyone develops their own tournament routine."

The limited-edition products will be available at Currys.co.uk from Wednesday, June 10, helping fans prepare for everything from kick-off to recovery.

Tech as Matchday Essential

Will Jones, Home Expert at Currys, added: "The research shows tournament football doesn't just dominate conversations; it dominates the home. Sleep schedules change, routines disappear, and everyday technology suddenly becomes essential matchday equipment. Whether it's keeping drinks cold for friends, powering late-night viewing sessions, or helping fans look a little more human the morning after extra time and penalties, these products will be quietly working overtime throughout the tournament. We are taking some of our most popular products and giving them a national team makeover. It's a playful celebration of the gadgets helping fans get through one of the most emotional and exciting periods of the sporting calendar."
