Brooklyn Beckham's DoorDash Ad Sparks Family Feud Backlash

Brooklyn Beckham has doubled down on his World Cup dig despite backlash from fans for 'mocking' his family feud. In the new World Cup advert for food delivery service DoorDash, viewers felt he had taken a very public dig at his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.

The Advert's Content

The 27-year-old was seen smirking in the teaser as he said: 'You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home… It's a long story.' For the full advert, Brooklyn added 'It's not like I don't have tickets', before brushing aside the 'long story', alluding to his estrangement from his family for more than a year.

The Doordasher then hands Brooklyn a bag, but instead of taking his food, the aspiring chef puts his tickets in and hands the bag back. 'These can go to someone… else' he said, while side-eyeing the camera with a grin. Brooklyn then tells the deliveryman to hide the tickets 'somewhere fun', with the promise that fans might be able to find them.

Bizarrely, in the background of the video, eagle-eyed fans spotted his infamous elephant picture framed on the wall.

Family Reaction

The original teaser had left his family 'stunned', as a source told Metro previously. 'No one could have predicted he would do something like this. Monetising this situation will be heartbreaking for David and Victoria, especially after his dig at 'Brand Beckham' in his statement. Brooklyn has called for peace and privacy and this feels like the complete opposite by joking about their family fallout in front of the world.'

The teaser had included nods to his family life, with a silver watch – thought to be the Patek Philippe Nautilus gifted to him by his father – sitting on the table. Beneath the watch, a stack of unopened letters can be seen on the table, which is pretty conspicuous timing given that Harper Beckham – Brooklyn's younger sister – was seen outside his LA house last Friday, trying to hand-deliver him a letter.

Viewers also pointed out that the snow globe on the table at the beginning of the ad could be a nod to Victoria's huge snow globe collection, which was made public in her Netflix documentary series Victoria Beckham.

Fan Backlash

Fans largely weren't impressed by this latest apparent dig at his family, branding it an 'embarrassing' move from the star.

  • 'Embarrassing, I thought he wanted to step away from his family but he's cashing in on them still,' wrote Calli Lewis on Instagram. 'Very sad for his family, I hope he finds his way back.'
  • Marissa called it 'a giant PR miss', racking up over 1,800 likes while DebMoly told him to 'Read the room lad.'
  • 'It's a hateful jab toward his family, how can anyone be kind about this,' asked Mary.
  • Palmer on X branded him a 'nasty little weed', adding: 'All these advert digs at his parents during the world cup… Your parents have achieved more than u ever have .. and ever will!! Grow up.'

Others did support Brooklyn's right to poke fun at his own family drama, as one fan said he was just 'showing a sense of humour'. 'So many haters here. I think it's snarky and fun,' commented wetmali. 'Brooklyn has been through a lot and it's great to see he has a sense of humor.'

Family Tensions Remain

The fallout is thought to be a sore spot for the entire family still, with Sir David shutting down a question in Variety about his family life. He told the publication: 'To be honest, I'm sorry to stop you there, but that's a private matter. That's the one thing that I don't want to talk about.'

Brooklyn unsurprisingly skipped his dad's Walk of Fame ceremony but also missed his little sister turning up at his house for a reunion. In January, he made clear that he had no interest in making amends with his family and sources claimed the intended reunion with Harper was 'choreographed'.
