Bryn Williams and Wife Sharleen Spiteri Keep Relationship Private: 'We Say No to Everything'

Celebrity chef Bryn Williams has revealed that he and his wife, Texas frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri, deliberately keep their relationship out of the public eye. The 48-year-old Welshman, known for his appearances on the Great British Menu and his own S4C programmes, said the couple turn down all requests for joint media appearances.

Speaking in a 2023 interview with S4C, Williams explained: “We both agreed we would keep it quiet, we only told friends and family and it was kept quiet for three to four years to be honest. Even now we say no to all requests. We are asked to do every TV show, every newspaper and magazine – even the wedding. We say no to everything.” He added: “There has to be an element of life that only the both of us know about. If everyone knows everything about you – what's the point of that?”

Williams and Spiteri, 58, married in 2018 at a 15th-century church near Denbigh in North Wales. The bride wore a white lace gown designed by close friend Stella McCartney. Around 500 guests attended the reception, held in a marquee at Williams' home, with radio presenter Chris Evans lending the couple his Aston Martin DB9 for the journey.

The chef, who trained under Marco Pierre White and previously owned Odette's in London's Primrose Hill, will appear alongside Alex Jones on BBC's Saturday Kitchen on March 7. Despite serving famous guests including Kylie Minogue, Paul McCartney and Noel Gallagher, he remains grounded. “Everyone is treated the same. The food is the most important thing for me, no matter who eats it,” he said.

Williams also shared that Spiteri has a fondness for Wales and would happily move there permanently. “Sharleen would live there tomorrow. After lockdown she had that feeling, suddenly after lockdown, that she would be happy in Llandyrnog. But I'm not quite ready yet,” he said.
