David Beckham Says Children 'Make Mistakes' After Brooklyn's Public Grievances

David Beckham has said parents must allow their children to 'make mistakes', a day after his son Brooklyn aired grievances against the family in a lengthy Instagram post. The former England footballer spoke indirectly about the dispute during an interview on CNBC's Squawk Box on Tuesday, emphasising the importance of letting children learn from their errors.

Brooklyn Beckham, 26, made a series of claims against his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, accusing them of controlling media narratives and attempting to 'ruin' his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham. In his statement, he said he did not wish to reconcile with his family, alleging that his parents had placed 'countless lies' in the media to preserve their public image.

The post detailed specific incidents, including claims that Victoria cancelled making Nicola's wedding dress at the last minute, that his parents pressured him to sign away rights to his name before the wedding, and that his mother 'hijacked' his first dance. Brooklyn also alleged that his wife was not invited to David's 50th birthday party and that his brothers were 'sent to attack me on social media'.

David Beckham did not address the allegations directly but spoke about educating his children on the dangers of social media. 'Children make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That's how they learn,' he said. 'You have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well.'

Brooklyn, the eldest of the Beckhams' four children, married Nicola Peltz, daughter of billionaire Nelson Peltz, in 2022. He stated that stepping away from his family had brought him peace and that his anxiety had disappeared since distancing himself.
