Davina McCall Fights Back Tears Over Brain Surgery Memory Loss

Davina McCall has emotionally revealed that her brain surgery left her questioning whether her fiancé Michael Douglas still wanted to be with her. The 57-year-old presenter underwent surgery last November to remove a rare colloid cyst, which affects only three in a million people.

Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, McCall admitted she cannot talk about her tumour 'without crying'. She recalled asking Michael the same question repeatedly due to short-term memory loss, saying: 'I thought, "Oh, he doesn't want to be with me." But in the end, we had a chat and he said, "What are you talking about? I love you, of course I want to be with you." He said, "You're actually just a bit annoying at the moment." And I laughed so hard with relief.'

McCall described the six months after surgery as 'difficult', noting that her short-term memory was affected more than she anticipated. 'I just thought life would go back to normal quite quickly, and I didn't go back to normal,' she said.

The former Big Brother host's comments come days after it was revealed that Michael, her hairstylist partner, had proposed. The couple went public in 2018, and Michael moved in with McCall in January 2023. A friend said McCall has a ring but is 'only wearing it in private'.
