Davina McCall Reveals Intimate Wedding Details and Health Journey
Davina McCall Shares Wedding Insight and Health Update

Television presenter Davina McCall has offered her first detailed glimpse into her recent wedding day with partner Michael Douglas, describing their "intimate" ceremony and reception as "the most perfect day." The 58-year-old star, who married the hairdresser in December, revealed the celebration was attended by just eleven guests, making it a profoundly personal and special occasion.

A Celebration of Love and Support

Speaking from the Bestseller Awards, where she received recognition for her book Menopausing, Davina publicly praised Michael for his unwavering support. She hailed him as "the ultimate female ally and menopause ally," noting his significant help to many women, including herself, with menopausal hair concerns. "I can't walk down the street without women nodding at me and smiling," she added, reflecting the positive impact of their advocacy.

Overcoming Health Challenges Together

The couple's union comes after a particularly challenging year for Davina, marked by significant health setbacks. She recently completed a course of radiotherapy for breast cancer, following a diagnosis that came after she detected a lump early and underwent a successful lumpectomy. This followed the discovery and surgical removal of a benign brain tumour in November 2024.

On their shared podcast, Making the Cut, the pair discussed the emotional toll and subsequent recovery. Michael, 49, described the past year as "the hardest of my life" and admitted it "broke me," but expressed feeling better than he has in a long time. Davina responded with supportive praise, saying, "But you have, and you are amazing."

Wedding Details and Personal Decisions

The intimate wedding took place just three months after their engagement in Ibiza, with the ceremony including "everyone who is special in their lives." Friends have suggested that Davina's recent health struggles prompted the decision to marry now. During the podcast, the couple also addressed whether Davina would take Michael's surname, with Davina clarifying she will remain Davina McCall publicly, a name she has "always been," while Michael humorously noted, "You've just happened to be my wife now."

A New Perspective on Life and Work

Davina has spoken candidly about how her health battles have led to a significant shift in her perspective and lifestyle. On the Miss Me? podcast, the Masked Singer judge admitted that change was once frightening to her, but she now recognises that her "really big growth has come from change - and often quite painful change."

The brain tumour diagnosis initially prompted thoughts about reducing stress, but the subsequent breast cancer diagnosis forced decisive action. "I realised that I really, really had to put that into place. And I have now," she stated. Consequently, Davina announced she is transitioning to a four-day work week, stating, "I want to take more care of myself. That is my latest project: me, because I can't take care of anyone else if I'm not okay."

Family and Public Support

The wedding was a family affair, with Davina's daughter Tilly, 21, sharing a TikTok video ahead of the ceremony. Last month, Davina broke her silence on the wedding with a social media post praising her "lovely" new husband, sharing a poignant poem by Harry Baker that celebrates the simple, comforting moments in a relationship.

Davina, who shares three children with ex-husband Matthew Robertson, has maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship since their 2017 divorce. Her journey through addiction recovery in the early nineties, the brain tumour operation, and now cancer treatment has framed a narrative of resilience and personal evolution, which she continues to share openly with the public.
