Disappearance After New Year's Eve Gig

Brazilian-born Maycon Douglas was last seen alive on December 31st. He had been working as a DJ at a bar in the famous coastal town of Nazaré before leaving to go home with a friend. After that night, he was not seen again.

His disappearance prompted a search, and Portuguese police located his car in a nearby area just days before the tragic discovery was made.

Tragic Discovery and Family Anguish

On Wednesday, January 7, a local fisherman found a body washed up on the beach. It was later confirmed to be that of Maycon Douglas.

The week of uncertainty took a severe toll on his family. His mother, after days of anguish with no news, fell ill and required hospitalisation on January 6, the day before her son's body was found.

Maycon Douglas found fame on season eight of the popular Portuguese reality show 'Secret Story - Casa dos Segredos', broadcast by TVI. He built a significant social media presence, with 50,000 followers on Instagram and 22,000 on TikTok.

His girlfriend, Raquel Coelho, paid a heartfelt tribute online, saying: 'I would give anything to have you back, anything. You appeared in my life unexpectedly, and you don't know how grateful I am that you did.'

Police Investigation Ongoing

Although born in Brazil, Maycon had lived in Portugal since he was four years old. Authorities are now waiting for the results of a post-mortem examination to establish his exact cause of death.
