Eamonn Holmes has issued an emotional health update from his hospital bed, reassuring fans that he will soon return to GB News after suffering a stroke in April. The 66-year-old presenter has been absent from his breakfast show since the medical emergency, with Alexander Armstrong stepping in to co-host alongside Ellie Costello.
Holmes shares selfie with girlfriend
The Irish broadcaster shared a selfie from his hospital bed with his supportive girlfriend Katie Alexander, telling The Sun: "I can't wait to be out of this gown and back in a suit and tie. Watch this space. I'll be back after this break."
Recent health struggles
Holmes's stroke is the latest in a series of health issues. In 2024, he remarked that he was living on "borrowed time" after years of chronic pain and his high-profile split from Ruth Langsford. His health problems began in 2016 with a double hip replacement, followed by shingles in 2018 and back pain from a trapped sciatic nerve in 2021. He underwent back surgery in 2022 after a dislocated pelvis caused three slipped discs.
Divorce battle with Ruth Langsford
Meanwhile, Holmes is embroiled in a £10 million divorce fight with ex-wife Ruth Langsford, heading to court after two hearings. The couple separated two years ago and failed to agree on a financial settlement. Court documents list Ruth as the applicant and Holmes as the respondent, with a trial set for November.
Holmes remains optimistic about his return, stating: "I'll be back after this break." Fans eagerly await his recovery and return to GB News.
