UK weather maps indicate that a scorching 35C heat surge is set to bake the country later this month, with temperatures expected to soar. According to forecasts from Netweather, most of England will experience temperatures of 30C and above on June 23.
Regional Temperature Breakdown
The warmest conditions are predicted in the southeast near London and East Sussex, where the mercury could reach 35C. The south coast is also forecast to see temperatures ranging from 31C to 33C. In the Midlands, temperatures will range from 29C to 31C, while conditions become slightly cooler in the north of England, ranging from 25C to 29C.
The southern end of Cornwall will be among the coolest areas with temperatures of 22C, while the north of Scotland will see lows of 18C. Northern Ireland will also see 24C heat, while Wales is forecast to be slightly warmer at 27C.
Met Office Forecast for June
The Met Office's forecast for the second half of June predicts heavy rain in the north, which will then spread to the south. Temperatures are expected to be above normal during this period and could be "very warm or hot at times."
The forecast reads: "A changeable period is likely through the middle and latter part of next week with outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain focused across the north and especially west, some of which could spread to parts of the south and southeast at times. Some strong winds may accompany this, mainly around coasts in the north and west."
"Through next weekend and into the following week, high pressure will probably become more dominant with conditions turning more widely dry and settled. Temperatures are likely to be above normal for most parts, and across the southeast in particular it could be very warm or hot at times, especially next weekend."
