Jason Derulo has shared intimate details about his strict pre-performance rituals, including a surprising weekly fast, in an exclusive interview with Daily Star at Capital's Summertime Ball. The chart-topping singer revealed that he and his dancers follow a series of high-intensity routines before taking the stage.
Derulo's Rigorous Pre-Show Regimen
Speaking to Daily Star reporter Bekka Barnard on the red carpet, Derulo explained: "I have a lot actually! I pretty much workout before every show, a pretty rigorous warmup. 15 minutes of really high intensity cardio." He added that he also performs a 30-minute vocal warmup and a dance ritual with his dancers that lasts seven to ten minutes. "We do a prayer before the show. That's about it!" he said with a smile.
The Surprising Friday Fast
Derulo also revealed a personal habit that fans may not know: "I don't eat on Fridays. I fast every single Friday. I don't know, I feel like it really balances my life in a lot of ways." He explained that the practice has brought him closer to God and helps him recalibrate his relationship with food. "It has allowed me to, kind of, retrain myself every single week with food. I feel like I have to recalibrate myself after a week. It's kind of like, no eating, then I'm reintroduced to food in a different kind of way."
A Memorable Performance at Wembley
After the interview, Derulo performed at Wembley Stadium in front of 80,000 fans, delivering hits like Ridin' Solo, Whatcha Say, and Trumpets. However, during the show, he slipped on the wet stage due to rain. In true Derulo fashion, he recovered with a smile and assured fans, "I survived!" The moment was captured on TikTok, where fans praised his grace under pressure, with comments like "He can even fall with class" and "At least it was stylish."
