Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher has admitted to missing one thing since swapping his acting career for a farm life: his parents popping round for a cup of tea. The 39-year-old, who played Andy Sugden for over two decades, now lives on a 120-acre holding in the Peak District with his wife Liz and their four children.
Fletcher's new series, Fletcher's Family Farm, airs on ITV on Sunday 15 October at 11.30am. He told the Mirror: 'I was really happy where we were but there’s nothing I miss that I don’t have; well except I think the only thing is mum and dad coming around for a brew because they lived five minutes away.'
Despite the regret, Fletcher relishes the peace of rural life. 'The thing I love is days like today, the sounds of the birds and all the noises. It’s the stillness, no other place has made me feel quite as present as this place does,' he said. His wife Liz added that they miss friends and family but make efforts to see them.
The couple now manage 100 sheep, 30 pigs, 10 horses, six chickens, a cat, and a dog. Fletcher described the new series as 'coming home' to ITV, offering a genuine insight into their farming journey as 'newbies'.
