Former The One Show presenter Matt Baker is returning to the BBC with his first solo series, 'Matt Baker: Life With Dogs', for BBC2 daytime. The show, produced by his own company Big Circus Media, will explore the diverse roles dogs play in human lives — from working farm dogs to therapy dogs and assistance dogs for those with disabilities.
A Lifelong Passion
Matt told The Mirror: "Dogs have been a lifelong passion of mine and I'm so excited to be making this series about the bond between humans and dogs." The announcement comes after the 48-year-old recently lost his beloved border collie Bob, leaving him heartbroken. He described Bob as "the ultimate companion through some of the greatest chapters of my life."
What the Series Will Cover
The series will examine how dogs can be trained for medical detection, warning owners of oncoming seizures, as well as their roles in therapy and police work. It will also highlight the incredible work of assistance dogs for people with disabilities.
Matt now splits his time between his Hertfordshire smallholding and his parents' Durham farm, where he regularly trains dogs. The family also has a dachshund called Ivy. The series is currently being filmed and is expected to launch later this year.
