Perrie Edwards Heartbroken Over Jesy's Twin's SMA

Perrie Edwards has broken her silence on ex-bandmate Jesy Nelson's twin's heartbreaking spinal muscular atrophy Type 1 (SMA1) diagnosis, admitting it 'broke' her and insisting she still feels for the singer despite their fallout.

Perrie's Emotional Response

The 32-year-old singer revealed during a candid interview on Great Company with Jamie Laing that seeing Jesy go through such a difficult time was devastating. 'Everything we've been through as a group and even though it ended in ways I wouldn't have wanted it to, and we're not that close any more and we're not in each other's lives, I still feel everything that the girls feel,' she explained.

'We will always have that weird connection and seeing Jesy go through that it broke me, because you wouldn't wish that on anyone, it is literally wild.'

No Desire to Rekindle Friendship

Despite her empathy, Perrie admitted she has no desire to rekindle the friendship with Jesy. However, she emphasised that the pair will always share a unique bond after years of being in Little Mix together. 'As much as we've got our issues, I don't want to see her go through that, I don't want to see her hurt,' she added.

Jesy's Twin's Health Journey

Jesy has been sharing updates on her one-year-old twins, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, who were diagnosed with SMA1, a condition that causes muscle waste and means they are unlikely to ever walk. She has campaigned for SMA screening to be included in the heel prick test at birth.

Recently, Jesy shared that Story said 'mumma' for the first time and that the twins started weaning onto solids after their specialist feeding chairs arrived. Jesy, who split from the twins' father Zion Foster earlier this year, expressed her emotional response to the chairs: 'It just made me feel so sad as it's just another reminder of another obstacle we have to tackle.'
