Radio 2 star Tina Daheley has announced she is leaving the Breakfast Show after seven years, sharing an emotional statement with fans on Instagram.
Emotional Goodbye
The news journalist, a regular on the show alongside Scott Mills, revealed her departure just days before Sara Cox takes over as the new host. In a heartfelt post, Daheley said: "After more than 7 years of early alarm calls on Radio 2, I'm stepping away from Radio 2 Breakfast. It's been one of the greatest privileges of my life to wake up with you every morning and humbling to have been trusted to deliver the news on the biggest breakfast show in Europe."
Career Highlights
Daheley reflected on her career, noting that her breakfast show journey began on 1Xtra with Trevor Nelson. She spent a decade broadcasting on Radio 1, reaching 1 in 4 young people in the UK. "After 18 years and six back-to-back breakfast shows, I'm looking forward to a lie-in," she added.
What's Next?
Daheley confirmed she is not leaving Radio 2 entirely. She will continue to host the 12-2pm slot when Jeremy Vine is away and will appear on BBC One after the summer. "Beyond that, watch this space," she teased.
