All Creatures Great and Small Season 7 Update Excites Fans

Fans of All Creatures Great and Small are thrilled as Samuel West, who plays Siegfried Farnon, shares behind-the-scenes glimpses from the upcoming seventh season. The beloved period drama, set in rural Yorkshire, is returning to Channel 5 with a double commission for seasons seven and eight, each comprising six one-hour episodes plus Christmas specials.

Filming Underway

Filming for season seven began in February, though a broadcast date has yet to be announced. Based on James Herriot's books chronicling his life as a veterinarian, the new season is expected to pick up from the 2025 festive special. With the series debuting annually since 2020, new episodes could arrive in autumn.

Behind-the-Scenes Snapshots

On June 5, Samuel West posted photos on X, offering a glimpse into the set. One image shows Callum Woodhouse, who plays Tristan Farnon, in full costume, relaxing in a cozy armchair. Another features Rachel Shenton, who portrays Helen Herriot, looking elegant yet sleepy in a red blouse and navy skirt. West captioned it cheekily: “Tell me you’ve got a one-year-old without telling me you’ve got a one-year-old #1: Rach.”

Additional photos capture the stunning Yorkshire countryside and crew members. In a particularly endearing shot, West holds a small rat, dressed in Siegfried’s trademark tweed suit, and captioned it: “And finally, the real star of the show. Plus some guy in a suit.”

Fan Reactions

Fans expressed their excitement in the comments. One wrote: “Can’t wait for you guys to grace my screen. In a world of disarray, you and the cast of ACGAS are a breath of fresh air.” Another said: “The rat and you aside, I adore the love for detail in your costume.” A third exclaimed: “We love you, Sam! Thank you for sharing these photos!” One fan added: “These photos are so wholesome, thank you for sharing. Bring on S7!”

What to Expect in Season 7

Plot details remain under wraps, but Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor at Channel 5, teased: “All Creatures Great and Small is a jewel in 5's drama crown and continues to delight viewers year after year. Its warmth, humour and heart, set against the beauty of Yorkshire, have made it a firm audience favourite. We're thrilled to extend its future with two more series, with many new stories still to tell and more unforgettable adventures ahead for our Skeldale family.”
