Adil Ray Faces Axe from Good Morning Britain Amid ITV Cuts

Good Morning Britain presenter Adil Ray is reportedly facing the axe from the ITV breakfast show as part of a major schedule shake-up and cost-cutting exercise at the channel. The 51-year-old host has been on rotation as a Friday presenter since Ben Shephard's departure last year, but insiders claim senior ITV executives, including daytime boss Emma Gormley, discussed his future in a meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

Ray's tenure has been marked by controversy, including accusations of being 'woke' and 'fat-shaming' darts champion Luke Littler. ITV did not deny that Ray is in trouble amid the channel's cost-saving measures, which are expected to result in up to 300 job losses.

The shake-up, set to take effect in January, will see Lorraine Kelly's show reduced from one hour to 30 minutes, airing only 30 weeks a year, matching the schedule of Loose Women. Both shows will face significant changes, causing uproar among presenters. Lorraine is said to be 'furious' and 'insulted' by the cut, while Loose Women panellists Ruth Langsford, Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, and Denise Welch are reportedly 'angered' and 'panicked' about their livelihoods.

Christine Lampard, who presents for Lorraine when she is on holiday and also anchors Loose Women, is believed to be particularly affected, with her yearly work now in jeopardy. A TV source told MailOnline: 'All of the presenters are in a state of panic... they are just as stressed and angry as the production staff.'

MailOnline understands that the Loose Women cast, which includes over 20 presenters, fears job losses among key talent. Younger panellists like Olivia Attwood and GK Barry may be favoured over veteran stars such as Janet Street-Porter and Jane Moore. A Loose Women insider added: 'It is hard enough right now to give every contributor a fair number of appearances.'
