Coronation Street viewers were left stunned on Friday as Toyah Battersby exposed Imran Habeeb's secret affair with Abi Franklin and the true paternity of baby Alfie. The revelation came after Kevin Webster discovered a birth certificate showing Imran as the father.
Abi and Imran's fling, which occurred in September, led to the birth of Alfie last month. Abi had been unaware she was six months pregnant until she went into labour. Since then, both Kevin and Toyah remained in the dark about the affair, while Imran fought in court for Abi to retain custody.
During Friday's hour-long episode, Imran registered Alfie's birth with his name on the certificate. Abi later bumped into Toyah while carrying the envelope containing the documents. Toyah, suspecting a drug relapse, alerted Kevin, who then discovered the truth and sent a photo of the certificate to Toyah.
At the adoption hearing for baby Elsie, a heartbroken Toyah confronted Imran, calling him a liar. She said: 'You lied so much that I don't know what the truth is anymore. You just lie and lie and people get hurt.' She added that she could not risk Imran hurting Elsie, even if it meant losing her.
Fans took to social media in shock, with one writing: 'TOYAH, I screamed,' and another tweeting: 'I GASPED! Toyah!' A third fan commented: 'Well done Toyah...hell hath no fury.'
