Coronation Street: Roy Cropper's Prison Pen Pal Could Be Emmerdale Serial Killer Meena Jutla

Coronation Street fans believe that 'hell could soon be unleashed' as they claim to have identified Roy Cropper's mysterious prison pen pal. The beloved character, played by David Neilson, has been corresponding with three inmates through a prison pen-pal scheme, but viewers suspect one of them could be Emmerdale serial killer Meena Jutla.

In Wednesday's episode, Roy's niece Nina Lucas grew concerned when she noticed him anxiously waiting for the postman. Roy eventually confessed that he had signed up to an organisation that connects him with prisoners, saying: 'Well, having been in prison myself, I know how isolating that is, and a scheme like this can be a lifeline to people with few friends and family.'

Soap enthusiasts have taken to social media to speculate that Meena, who was sentenced to a minimum of 75 years for multiple murders, could be one of Roy's correspondents. Some fear that the killer might make a daring escape during the upcoming Corriedale crossover and target Roy.

'Who is Roy really writing to? Is it something to do with the Emmerdale crossover?' one fan asked on Facebook. Another added: 'God Meena will unleash hell if she's corresponding with Roy.'

Coronation Street airs on ITV1 at 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
