EastEnders viewers have been speculating that Jasmine Fisher's recent confession to killing her father Anthony Trueman may be a red herring, as new clues suggest her future on the soap may not be sealed. In Wednesday's episode, now available on BBC iPlayer, it was revealed that Max Branning has Jasmine's missing phone, which contains video evidence of the incident.
The footage shows Jasmine filming Anthony as he attacked her mother Zoe Slater. Unaware that Anthony was her father, Jasmine confronted him, and he charged at her. She screamed and accidentally killed him in self-defence, according to her account. Jasmine had claimed the phone would prove her innocence, but its disappearance led to her confession and the arrest of her mother, Zoe, who had been in prison for the crime.
Max Branning, who has a history of conflict with Jasmine, was seen watching the footage, looking conflicted. The episode ended without revealing whether he will hand the phone to the police or destroy it. This has left fans questioning if Jasmine will be saved or if her fate is sealed.
Adding to the speculation, EastEnders' Instagram account has featured actress Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness, who plays Jasmine, in several recent posts. Rumours also suggest that Jasmine's twin brother, Zoe's son, may soon make a debut. These hints have led fans to believe that Jasmine might remain in Walford, potentially avoiding prison if Max decides to help her.
However, some viewers suspect that the confession and the phone reveal could be a red herring, designed to mislead audiences about Jasmine's ultimate fate. EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
