Mulaney Mocks RFK Jr.'s Marriage and Cheating

John Mulaney delivered a scathing critique of U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his marriage to actress Cheryl Hines during a stand-up performance at the Hollywood Bowl as part of the Netflix Is a Joke Festival.

Comedian Targets Kennedy's Personal Life

The 43-year-old comedian, known for his self-deprecating humor, shifted focus to Kennedy and Hines, who have been married since 2012. Mulaney claimed he first met "Bobby" a decade ago through Riverkeeper, an environmental group protecting New York's Hudson River. "That's how much he shouldn't be in the government — I know him," Mulaney joked, according to Entertainment Weekly.

After mimicking Kennedy's gravelly voice, Mulaney delivered the punchline: "He's comedy adjacent, you know. He's married to that woman from Curb Your Enthusiasm and cheats on her like a dog." The remark reportedly left the audience in stunned silence, with only a few gasps audible. Mulaney responded, "Sorry for the pearl clutch here. Sorry to drop that Public Domain information on the Hollywood Bowl."

RFK Jr.'s History of Cheating Scandals

Kennedy, 72, has faced multiple cheating allegations across his three marriages. During his first marriage to Emily Ruth Black (1982-1994), he allegedly cheated repeatedly, according to biographer Jerry Oppenheimer's 2015 book RFK Jr.: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the Dark Side of the Dream. Oppenheimer also claimed Kennedy proposed to his second wife, Mary Richardson Kennedy, while still married to Black.

Kennedy was married to Mary from 1994 to 2012. Audio footage obtained by Mother Jones in 2025 reportedly captured him admitting to cheating on her at least 37 times with different women. The outlet reported that Kennedy had set up recording devices in their home during divorce proceedings. Mary died by suicide in 2012.

In 2014, Kennedy married Hines. Last year, he was embroiled in another scandal involving former Politico reporter Ryan Lizza, who claimed his fiancée, journalist Olivia Nuzzi, had a digital affair with Kennedy. Kennedy denied any romantic or sexual relationship, stating they only met once for an interview. Hines later addressed the rumors on The Katie Miller Podcast, saying, "I think you always have to consider the source, right? So that's where I start."

Mulaney's Environmental Jabs

Mulaney also mocked Kennedy's work with Riverkeeper, impersonating his voice: "His old job was keeping the Hudson River, whose native fish is tied-off used condoms, clean. Now I'm in charge of your bones and your tummy."

The Independent has contacted RFK Jr.'s representative for comment.
