In an exclusive revelation, Emmerdale actress Louise Jameson has hinted that her character, Mary Goskirk, possesses a deadly protective streak, suggesting she 'could kill' the villainous Celia Daniels if pushed far enough.
A Mother's Fury: Mary's Protective Instincts
Speaking to The Mirror ahead of devastating scenes airing on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, Jameson opened up about the intense family drama unfolding in the Dales. The actress, who has played Mary for over five years, teased a potential murderous twist in the long-running storyline involving the manipulative Celia and her son, Ray Walters.
Jameson explained that if Mary knew the full extent of the danger Celia poses to her daughter Rhona, son-in-law Marlon, and granddaughter April, she would not hesitate to take extreme action. "I think she'd kill if she had to," Jameson stated. "She wouldn't think twice, she'd find a gun, do some stalking, she'd be prepared to die and kill. I really think she has that mother lion in her."
Heartbreak and Deception in the Village
This week's episodes feature emotional and harsh scenes where Rhona, desperate to protect her mother from Celia and Ray's dodgy dealings, cruelly pushes Mary away. In a painful confrontation, Rhona lies, telling Mary the family needs space and even labels her "overbearing."
Deeply hurt, Mary agrees to leave the village, creating a cliffhanger about her future in Emmerdale. "It breaks Mary's heart," Jameson revealed, adding that viewers are left wondering if she will truly depart and if reconciliation is possible. The actress expressed her own hope for a resolution, stating, "I certainly do hope so because I love working here! It's the longest job I've ever had in 54 years. I adore it."
Who Will Bring Down Celia Daniels?
While remaining coy about the confirmed exit storyline for Celia, Jameson shared her thoughts on who should ultimately trigger the villain's downfall. She believes Marlon Dingle should be centrally involved. "I can't say what is coming up and how it resolves but if it was my call, as a writer or producer, I'd probably have Marlon somehow involved in her downfall," she said.
With Rhona and Marlon effectively silenced by Celia's schemes, the question of who will expose the truth remains pivotal. Jameson warned that dark scenes are still ahead before any resolution, but she hopes for moments of comedy to balance the tragedy, noting its importance for the narrative.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode every Thursday.
