Steve Brown, the Paralympian turned presenter, has expressed his desire to remain a host on BBC's Escape to the Country for as long as possible. The 44-year-old, who joined the show in its 26th season, said in an exclusive interview that he would love to continue 'indefinitely' if the team allows him.
Brown, who competed for Great Britain in wheelchair rugby before moving into television, described the show as 'different every time' despite its familiar format. 'There's a format, every show has to have the continuity of the meet and greet and showing them around the houses... but it's different every time, and it's that which keeps it fresh and keeps it exciting,' he explained.
The presenter, who also works on other BBC programmes such as The One Show and Countryfile, said he enjoys the variety of locations and people he encounters. 'I'm doing different things as well, I'm going to different places, and that excites me as much as the new people and the new houses,' he added.
Brown admitted he was a fan of the show long before joining the presenting team, which includes Sonali Shah, Jules Hudson, Nicki Chapman, Briony May Williams, Denise Nurse, and Richie Anderson. He called being asked to join the team 'a real honour' and said he has 'so much fun' with the house hunters and crew.
