James Martin, the regular host of ITV's Saturday Kitchen, has provided an update on his health following a recent operation. The TV chef underwent knee surgery last month due to ongoing problems, and has now confirmed he is recovering well.
Martin took to social media to thank fans for their support, writing: “Just a message to say many thanks for all you kind messages, operation done now. Can’t sleep but guess that’s a small price to pay for now. Back and fighting fit soon!”
Fans had first become concerned in November when Martin revealed he needed an MRI scan. He wrote at the time: “Seems as if we are both getting old fella! Dropped hi off for an op this morning, now it seems I need one.” The post sparked a wave of well-wishes from followers.
Martin had previously taken time off from Saturday Kitchen, admitting he “wasn’t very well” and needed “a few operations”. He has also spoken about a heart attack he witnessed, which prompted him to reassess his own health. Since then, he has lost excess weight, largely by giving up fizzy drinks.
