The BBC has confirmed that Line of Duty will return for a seventh series, with production set to begin in spring 2026. The new season will see Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar reprise their roles as Steve Arnott, Kate Fleming and Ted Hastings, who now work for the newly formed Inspectorate of Police Standards after AC-12 was disbanded.
Robert Carlyle joins the cast as guest lead, playing Detective Constable Shaun Massie, a Specialist Rifle Officer with Tactical Operations Unit 7 (TO-7). Tom Weston-Jones portrays Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, the charismatic leader of TO-7 who is accused of being a sexual predator. The series will explore whether Gough's case is a distraction from a larger threat.
New cast members include Laura Aikman as DC Paula Beckman, Levi Brown as DC Luke Tobin, and Amy Leigh Hickman as DC Nira Rashid. Returning actors include Mark Bonnar, Owen Teale, Perry Fitzpatrick and Christina Chong. Further additions to the cast are David Calder, Steven Elder, Dominic Mafham, Sarah Andre White, Aimee Powell and Naomi Yang.
Filming for the seventh series will take place in Belfast, with an expected broadcast in 2027. The cast has already gathered for a readthrough, and more details will be announced in due course.
