Love Island fans were left horrified on Saturday night after contestant Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu admitted to a 'disgusting' biscuit habit during the spin-off show Unseen Bits. The 27-year-old Turkish actress told fellow islander Gemma Owen that she often eats half a biscuit before putting it back in the packet.
While the pair were enjoying savoury snacks from their secret stash, Ekin-Su took a single bite from a cookie and returned the remainder to the tin. Gemma appeared stunned as Ekin-Su explained: 'I have a habit, I bite the cookie and put it back. I bite it and put it back but I own up to it.' She added: 'Babe, a normal head would never do that and I'm not normal, am I? I'm a girl who eats a whole bar of chocolate all in one.'
The confession sparked outrage on social media, with fans branding her actions 'disgusting' and 'filth'. One Twitter user wrote: 'Ekin-Su eating half the biscuit and putting it back in the biscuit tin. That ain't even acceptable in your own home!' Another added: 'Ekin-Su contaminating all the cookies is disgusting.' A third declared: 'Ekin-Su is actually nasty as hell for biting into the cookie and putting it back into the container.'
Despite the backlash, Ekin-Su remains the favourite to win the show alongside her partner Davide Sanclimenti. She later redeemed herself with a comedic moment, massaging Gemma's feet with sun cream while impersonating fellow islander Luca Bish. The impression drew laughter and helped win back some critics.
