Married At First Sight UK matchmaker Paul C Brunson has revealed that a heated argument between himself and fellow expert Mel Schilling became so intense that producers had to intervene. The clash occurred during a dinner party scene midway through the new series, which returns to E4 with a diverse cast of singles seeking love.
Paul, who joined the show two years ago, admitted that he and Mel, a psychologist and dating coach, have strong personalities that led to a disagreement that escalated. 'We debated it out so it was so big that the producers had to stop us,' he said. 'The producers had to say stop.'
The American love doctor also disclosed that he attends therapy before and after every commitment ceremony to cope with the emotional intensity of the show. He praised the UK version for allowing experts to debate openly, unlike the Australian counterpart where opinions are more uniform.
Paul shared these insights during a candid chat with former stars Marilyse Corrigan and Matt Jameson, noting that this year's cast is the most diverse yet in terms of ethnicity, sexuality, age, geography, and political beliefs. He also revealed that experts are barred from attending weddings to avoid distraction, relying on production updates instead.
