Super Mario Galaxy Movie Leak Reveals Wario as Villain

A plot twist for the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie has been leaked early, revealing that Wario will appear as a villain alongside Bowser Jr. The leak originated from a listing on the Everyman Cinema website in London, which included a plot synopsis and cast list.

The synopsis reads: “After defeating Bowser and saving Brooklyn, Mario faces Wario and Bowser Jr.'s evil alliance. Now, alongside his friends and Yoshi, he must stop their plans for world domination.” This marks Wario's first appearance in the animated film series, after being absent from the 2023 Super Mario movie.

Wario first appeared as the final boss in 1992's Super Mario Land 2 and later starred in his own Wario Land and WarioWare series. His most recent game was WarioWare: Move It! for Nintendo Switch in 2023, and he also appeared in Mario Kart World last year.

Details on how Wario will team up with Bowser Jr. and who will voice him remain unknown. The returning cast includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Jack Black as Bowser. Benny Safdie voices Bowser Jr., and Brie Larson joins as Rosalina.

The Super Mario Galaxy movie has a runtime of 98 minutes and is set for release in UK theatres on April 1, 2026.
