Megyn Kelly's return to journalism has failed to generate significant interest on social media, despite her promotion of an exclusive interview. The former NBC host launched her comeback on Friday with a chat with Ashley Bianco, the former ABC producer fired after leaking a hot mic video. However, by Monday, the Instagram TV clip had only 27,000 views, and her YouTube channel had just 7,000 subscribers.
Kelly's Instagram account, under the handle @MegynKelly, gained approximately 27,400 followers in three days. Another account, @theRealMegynKelly, had only 4,673 followers by Monday night. On Twitter, where she has 2.41 million followers, she posted about joining Instagram and teased news, but the response was muted.
The interview focused on Bianco, who leaked a video of ABC's Amy Robach complaining that the network killed a story on Jeffrey Epstein. The full seven-minute interview on YouTube garnered nearly 220,000 views by Monday, likely boosted by embedding in news outlets. Kelly used the hashtag #JeffreyEpstein to draw traffic.
Kelly was fired from NBC in October 2018 after comments about blackface Halloween costumes. She had joined NBC in March 2017 after leaving Fox News. Media mogul Rupert Murdoch said he would not invite her back to Fox News, despite acknowledging her talent. Kelly walked away with her full $69 million contract, with financial ties ending in April 2020.
