The wait is almost over for fans of Sweet Magnolias, as season five is set to premiere on Netflix this Thursday, June 11. The beloved series returns with the margarita-drinking trio Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue, bringing more heartwarming drama from the small town of Serenity.
Sweet Magnolias Season 5 Release Date
Season five of Sweet Magnolias will be released on Thursday, June 11, on Netflix. Like the previous four seasons, the new series consists of 10 episodes, all available to stream from the release date.
Sweet Magnolias Season 5 Cast
The core cast returns, with JoAnna Garcia Swisher as Maddie, Heather Headley as Helen, and Brooke Elliott as Dana Sue. Their partners are also back: Justin Bruening as Cal, Dion Johnston as Erik, and Brandon Quinn as Ronnie.
New additions to the cast include Jamie-Lynn Sigler from The Sopranos, who plays author Nell Winters. Courtney Grace, known for Disclosure Day, portrays Ronnie's new business partner Courtney Sinclair, and John Gabriel Rodriquez from Fantasy Island appears as rival business owner Clark Bellson. Iman Benson, who starred in Alexa and Katie and The Midnight Club, joins as Erik's niece Jessica Whitley.
Anneliese Judge returns as Annie, but her on-off love interest Ty, played by Carson Rowland, will not be appearing in season five.
What to Expect in Sweet Magnolias Season 5
One of the major storylines this season is Helen's long-awaited wedding to Erik. Heather Headley told Parade: "It's been years in the making. So I think it would be a beautiful celebration ... And because it's Helen, and she's the one who likes the clothes and all that kind of stuff, it should be quite the wedding."
Showrunner Sheryl J Anderson revealed that the theme for season five is "chasing dreams." She explained to Tudum: "In everybody chasing their dreams, somebody's catching them, some people are finding they were changed, and some people are just stumbling. We like having the three ladies in different places every season." She added: "Not only is this adventure huge fun, but it's also an opportunity to explore the facets of their relationships in a new context."
