The Hairdresser Mysteries Casts Corrie Stars Sally Phillips

The BBC has announced a new detective drama, The Hairdresser Mysteries, which will feature two beloved Coronation Street actors. The series, set in the 1970s, follows hairdresser Lily Petal as she solves village mysteries.

Cast and Characters

Sally Phillips, known for Bridget Jones's Diary, stars as Lily Petal, a hairdresser who leaves the city to run a salon in a quaint village. Joining her are Coronation Street's Charlotte Jordan as Clary Coombs, Lily's bright assistant, and Wendi Peters as Gloria Crudd, a newcomer with a secret past.

Other cast members include Ben Castle-Gibb as PC Adam Watson, Sunetra Sarker as Wincey Evans, Clive Rowe as Lonnie, and Guy Henry as Race Runard.

Plot and Production

The show's synopsis teases: "Everyone tells their hairdresser everything and soon she becomes the hub of her new village's secrets and revelations. Using her own brand of uncannily developed hairdressing intuitive, empathy and understanding, Lily begins to solve the mysteries of the village."

Written by Jim Cartwright, the series is produced by Mill Bay Media. Executive producers Will Trotter and Oliver Kent expressed excitement about bringing Cartwright's "joyful world" to life, while Herbert L. Kloiber of Night Train Media praised the show's "fresh spin on the cosy crime genre."

The Hairdresser Mysteries will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in July.
