Yellowstone Spin-Off Wraps Season 2 Filming Early

Production on the second season of the Yellowstone spin-off series has reportedly wrapped ahead of schedule, according to sources close to the show. The news comes amid ongoing tensions between star Kevin Costner and Paramount Network executives over his filming commitments for the main series.

Costner, 68, had requested to limit his involvement in the second half of Yellowstone's fifth season to just one week of filming, as he focuses on his passion project, the western epic 'Horizon'. However, network executives declined his offer and are instead moving forward with a new spin-off starring Matthew McConaughey.

The spin-off, which is yet to be officially titled, is expected to air on Paramount Network and stream exclusively on Paramount+. McConaughey is reportedly in negotiations to lead the series, which will expand the Yellowstone universe created by Taylor Sheridan.

The main series, Yellowstone, may now conclude with the second half of its current season, which is set to return in summer 2023. A spokesperson for Paramount Network declined to confirm or deny the reports, stating: 'Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that's the case for a long time to come.'

Meanwhile, Sheridan continues to develop other spin-offs, including the prequel series 1883 and 1923, as well as two additional limited series set in the 1940s and 1960s. The franchise's success has reduced the network's reliance on the original show.
