Westlife members Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan and Kian Egan have provided an update on bandmate Mark Feehily, who is absent from their upcoming world tour due to ongoing health issues. The trio appeared on BBC Breakfast on Monday, where they confirmed that Feehily is “doing ok” but is taking a step back from live performances.
Feehily, 45, has faced a series of serious health problems since 2020, including sepsis, pneumonia, an incisional hernia and multiple major surgeries. He previously detailed his struggles, revealing that he spent months in intensive care during the Covid-19 pandemic, separated from his fiancé and young daughter.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Shane Filan said: “He’s ok, he’s taking a step back at the moment. He’s on the new music which is great, he’s on Chariot obviously as well, but no, not with us on this one.” Filan added that Feehily sends his love to fans.
The remaining trio are marking Westlife’s 25th anniversary with a greatest hits album, a new single titled “Chariot,” and a world tour starting in Ireland in September. Kian Egan told The Daily Mirror: “We’re devastated he won’t be joining us on this tour. We’ll be missing him every night just as much as the fans will.”
Westlife had previously announced Feehily’s absence in a statement, saying: “Sadly, Mark will be unable to join the celebrations. We hope he can join us back on stage when he is ready and able.” Feehily has not performed with the band since stepping down from touring in 2024 due to his health.
