The Gay Blade tipped to continue winning run at Musselburgh

Newsboy's nap selection for Wednesday's racing is The Gay Blade, who is fancied to secure a fourth victory of the year in the Livescore Bet Handicap (5.00) over seven furlongs at Musselburgh. The Iain Jardine-trained seven-year-old has been in fine form, winning a pair of classified races at Newcastle in February over six furlongs, and added a third course and distance success at Gosforth Park in a handicap last week. He returns to turf at a track where he has won twice over the same trip previously, and escaping a penalty he looks sure to be competitive for a trainer currently in good form.

Rosenpur is the next best selection for the Hibernian Community Foundation Handicap (3.15) at Musselburgh. The six-year-old had a busy 2025, running 21 times, winning five races on both all-weather and turf, and being placed on nine occasions. He returned after a 170-day break at Catterick Bridge over six furlongs last week with a hard-fought silver medal, only touched off by the even-money favourite Aberama Gold by a head. The majority of his victories have come over today's minimum trip of five furlongs, and Jennie Candlish's charge can deliver once again.

At the Punchestown Festival on Wednesday, Gaelic Warrior is expected to shine in the Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup (6.05), following his impressive eight-length success in the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup last month. Willie Mullins saddles four of the five runners, with his Gold Cup hero fancied to overturn stablemate Fact To File, who beat him by five lengths in the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup in February, in what promises to be a fascinating contest.
